The flow of life, which is symbolized by a rope lying in front of the patient on the floor, represents the beginning (birth), the past, the present, and the future.
Through severe stress one can feel, as if life is not progressing. One can feel as if everything is just repeating, or that yesterday and today cannot be distinguished. With the image of the flow of life we approach a new experience of time, as a way of viewing the past differently.
The trauma of the patients sits deep in the mind. The soul is fragmented like a mirror that has fallen to the ground. The patient cannot get rid of it on their own.
The traumatic experience accompanies them every day and night. They brood over it, the images keep coming back, and they cannot let go of what happened. In moments of relaxation the past breaks in suddenly and painfully. The affected individuals lose control over their lives.
My goal-oriented therapy technique aims to restore balance, bring the mind and body into harmony, and balance feelings and thoughts.
Hafes Shalabi, Dipl. Psychologist / Psychological Psychotherapist
My work focuses on cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma therapy, systemic couples and family therapy and child, and adolescent psychotherapy. As a trained hypnotherapist I also incorporate hypnotherapy, within the framework of cognitive behavioral therapy.
For 19 years my extensive experience in intercultural therapy has been a staple of my practice. Additionally, I am frequently consulted by colleagues as a coach and advisor in matters of dealing with patients from various cultural backgrounds.
In my practice I treat conditions such as depression, anxiety and panic disorders, psychosomatic symptoms, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, eating disorders, sleep disorders, burnout, and stress management.
With children and adolescents, I focus specifically on attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD), and reactive symptoms such as grief and anger in relation to parental separation.
With care and empathy, I offer statutory health insurance patients, private patients and self-payers professional support in dealing with mental illnesses or life crises.
